Lead designer and Art Director for creative studio OK COOL heavily involved in the agency for a number of years as lead designer and art director. Their clients include Instagram, Tiktok, Taco Bell, Bumble, Don Papa Rum, Salcombe Gin, Benugo, Heights, Okapi and more.

Around 2021 the studio wanted to move forward with an entirely new rebrand - covering new logo, new website and branding across all channels. I worked closely with external creative director Katie Ling to develop this. Using a new sharper colour palette and eye-catching logo, I pitched concepts for blog pages, Instagram feeds and client decks. This included making a range of GIFs and stickers that could be effectively thrown across documents - to bring personality and flair to more pedestrian layouts. One of the core tasks was to take this new direction and create an online portfolio that lived within it’s own Instagram account @okcoolstudio - that could be accessed publicly and show off the extent of the studio’s social media strengths. This was meticulously put together; ranging from animated infographics, video reels, interactive sliders and heavily stylised.

NEW DECADE - INSTAGRAM REFRESH 2020

At the start of 2020; we wanted to shake things up and breathe new visual life into our Instagram feed. Something that championed people and community while maintaining a strong visual style. Using the start of a new decade as a good concept I lead a direction of visually ‘disintegrating’ our previous feed into a black void around the start of 2020. This gave some activity in wondering what was going on with the agency. We then set our intentions with a bold typeface stating ‘NEW DECADE’ over three Instagram tiles. From there we proceeded to roll out the new creative, in essence tearing it down and rebuilding from scratch.

The 2020 creative had a youthful colour palette, refreshing juxtaposition of typefaces and a bold use of textures and engaging reactive imagery. This is a project I am very passionate about. As we developed the aesthetic, the agency are able to use their Instagram feed as a digital playground to test out new ideas and concepts; which proved a period of experimentation as the world was locked away due to the pandemic. This was a great opportunity to have the creative freedom on a project that is whole-heartedly encouraged by the team at OK COOL.
